How to look after your health and wellbeing in the run up to the festive season

See daylight!

  1. If you, or someone you know, suffers from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) you’ll understand the profound effect sunlight can have on our mental wellbeing. Numerous studies have found that being outdoors in nature is good for our health. It can make us more relaxed, improve our memory, increase our attention span and improve our memory and thinking.

  2. Exposure to sunlight has been found to slow down weight gain. Studies have found that sunlight can trigger the release of nitric oxide. This is turn led to the slowing of weight gain in laboratory studies.

  3. Getting outdoors can cure Christmas cabin fever. Spending hours with the family huddled around the TV is some people’s idea of the perfect Christmas, but for many it is can cause stress and frustration. Suggesting a walk outside can be a great way to relieve any tensions, strengthen relationships and improve everybody’s mood. So pull on your best Christmas jump, wrap yourself up and soak up the winter sun!
